Every year, millions of young people apply to join the Communist Party of China. Our reporter Shen Le went to one of the oath taking ceremonies to find out the motives of newly enlisted members.

After reciting the oath, these young people from Beijing Lawyers Association officially join the party.

Liang Jingjing, lawyer from Beijing Chengguang Law Firm, said, "There are four experienced party members at my firm. They are always ready to extend a helping hand. Last year, a tour to one of the stops on the Long March reinforced my wish to join the Party. I'm so excited my application has been accepted. My next goal is to provide an even better service to the clients."

As more and more young people join the party, branch management has seen some innovative changes, especially at grassroots level.

At Zhong-lun Law Firm, Party Secretaries are using the Internet to organize meetings, initiate voting and publicize candidate information. Because lawyers have to travel extensively to handle cases across the country, bringing them together online is the most feasible solution.

Wang Yue, Party Branch Secretary from Zhonglun Law Firm, said, "Lawyers don't show up very often at their offices. So getting Party members together to ensure due process in accepting new members became a challenge. Since our daily work is done on our internal network, so we came up with this idea of putting Party work online. We referred to the Constitution of the Party and it wasn't a violation. "

Jiang Bin is the law firm's archive keeper. He runs the company's mini library and ensures lawyers don't run into each other's case and cause conflicts of interests. He is one of the new party members accepted through the online process.

Jiang Bin said, "Apart from serving the people and committing oneself to the Communist cause, joining the Party for me on a day-to-day basis, means working harder to provide better services to my fellow colleagues. "

20 million people applied to join the party in 2010, a four percent increase compared with the figure in 2009. Although the particulars may vary for different individuals joining the party, their ultimate goal to serve the people remains a constant. Shen Le, CCTV, Beijing.
