Monaco's royal couple wed in religious ceremony

Monaco's Prince Albert the second and South African Olympian Charlene Wittstock have married in a star-studded religious ceremony. Thousands more watched the wedding on giant screens across the Mediterranean principality.

A day after their civil wedding, the couple exchanged 18 carat white gold platinum rings at the religious ceremony held in the palace courtyard.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy was among the guests that included celebrities and European royals. The new royal couple later drove through winding streets of the Monte Carlo on their way to the Sainte Devote Chapel.

Crowds lined the streets to cheer the royal couple. The prince and princess also joined 450 guests for a multi-course dinner prepared by celebrated French-born chef Alain Ducasse.
