Yemen's Acting President says a road map could be reached by this weekend to resolve the country's long- running power-transition standoff. It's part of ongoing international efforts to end the standoff between the ruling party and the opposition.

Vice president Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, who has served as acting president since the country's leader Ali Abdullah Saleh was hospitalized in Saudi Arabia, said the road map would be based on a power-transition initiative brokered earlier this year by Gulf Cooperation Council and a proposal by the UN.

The GCC initiative, which has been derailed by Saleh three times, stipulated Saleh to resign in a month and the opposition-headed national government to be formed to hold presidential elections within two months.
