UK police seize record haul of $492mn cocaine

British officials said on Wednesday that they seized a record 1.2 tons of cocaine on a private boat.The drugs were found hidden in a specially-designed compartment on a boat that docked in southern England in June.

The UK's Border Agency and the Serious Organized Crime Agency said the cocaine, had a wholesale value of about 82 million US dollars and a street value of about 492 million dollars. The cocaine is believed to have originated in South America and been packed inside the boat in Venezuela. Officials, said it was the largest-ever haul of "Class A" drugs found in Britain. The country classifies "Class A" drugs as those, most likely to cause harm.
