Commemoration held on Monday on Zhouqu mudslide anniversary

Monday marks the one year anniversary of a massive mudslide that hit Zhouqu county in northwest China's Gansu Province. The disaster left more than 1,700 people dead or missing.

A commemoration was held Monday morning at the "Remembrance Garden", built at one of the hardest hit villages. Wreaths have been laid at the monument's wall, which is engraved with the victims' names.

Over 700 people, including officials, as well as PLA soldiers and police officers attended the ceremony. Together, they mourned the victims, and expressed their confidence in reconstruction efforts.
