Storm Muifa has whipped up powerful waves that are battering the northeast Chinese coast. Massive waves off the coast of Liaoning Province broke a dike in the Jinzhou Industrial Zone in the city of Dalian Monday morning.

The dike is used to protect Fujia chemical plant. Over a thousand firefighters, troops and border guards rushed to repair the dike, over fears of a toxic spill from the plant.
