Libyan government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim has conceded that rebel fighters entered Garyan, a town 50 kilometers to the south of Tripoli, but stated that most of the rebels have fled the town. Rebels on Monday said they had captured the town of Garyan. If the information is verified to be true, it means that the rebels are one step closer to surrounding the capital.

Moussa Ibrahim, spokesman of Libyan government, said, "In Garyan, there are still armed gangs inside the city but, thank God, through the efforts of the people of Garyan, and the tribes around the city, and with the support of the armed forces, the armed gangs were dealt with, and they fled from Garyan and others were apprehended. Unfortunately, there are still some of those people in the midst of the city. They were waiting for this opportunity, to come out and cause disorder."
