In Libya, the capital Tripoli appears calm, despite fighting between Libyan government forces and the rebels continuing in other parts of the country.

Local residents are out shopping in the evening, after breaking their fast for Ramadan. Some residents say despite NATO's continuous bombing every night, people are living life as normal. Meanwhile, heavy fighting is taking place for control of the strategic city of Zawiya, just 48 kilometers west of Tripoli, where the rebels were trying to cut supply routes between Tunisia and Tripoli. They are critical for moving food, fuel and weapons overland to the capital.

The eastern half of the country is now firmly in rebel control, with a transitional leadership based in Benghazi. The east's main front line is at the strategic oil terminal of Brega, where trucks carrying rebel forces entered on Tuesday.
