Rebels are continuing their way towards Gaddafi's stronghold of Sirte, gathering personnel and equipment at a checkpoint west of Sirte.

Around 20 rebels at the roadside camp are waiting for reinforcements from Tripoli. The rebels have been advancing slowly from Misrata to Sirte, travelling around 20 kilometres over the past day. They placed a flag atop of a mobile phone mast near the checkpoint to mark their progress on the route towards Sirte.

They also embrace the civilians in the cars who pass through the checkpoint.

Gaddafi loyalists are expected to head toward Sirte from Bin Jawwad and to join up with regime forces there.
