A bomb attached to a military bus has killed 15 Iraqi soldiers and wounded 20 others at an army base in western Iraq.

Police say the explosion occurred inside a military base near Baghdad. In a separate incident, at least 25 people were wounded when a bomb exploded in a commercial area in Hilla, a city south of the Iraqi capital. Attacks on the police and army have been rising as they prepare to take sole responsibility for security ahead of the expected US troop withdrawal.

The sources said the bomb went off in a popular area with restaurants and coffee shops in the town of al-Hamza, just south of Hilla. — Photo by AP
