The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has condemned South Korea's latest military drill as the latest provocation. Wednesday's drill was conducted near the sea border with the DPRK on the first anniversary of the Yeonpyeong shelling.

DPRK's Central New Agency cited a military statement on Thursday, saying the South has drawn no lesson from last year's shelling incident. Instead, South Korea has conducted massive military exercises, which, the report says, are the latest political and military provocation to the DPRK. The statement also says DPRK armed forces are fully prepared to counter any possible military provocation.

Seoul says the DPRK fired over a hundred rounds of artillery rounds onto Yeonpyeong island last year. However, the DPRK insists the shelling was in response to live artillery fire from the South into its own waters.
