Yemen to form new cabinet within days

Yemen’s newly-appointed Prime Minister Mohamed Basindwa said his cabinet will be formed within days.

At a press conference, Basindwa said the new government’s priority will be meeting the urgent economic needs of the people, including making fuel, electricity and cooking gas available. He added that the government plans to set up a fund for reconstruction and development projects. Basindwa also said they have requested assistance from countries in the Gulf.

In accordance with the Gulf Cooperation Council deal, the new national unity government will be formed with equal participation of the opposition coalition, and the ruling party. Officials of the ruling party said the new cabinet is expected to be announced by Thursday.

And a military committee will also be formed by mutual agreement, with the aim of removing rival forces from the capital Sanaa and other major cities.
