Iran: IRGC to stage military drill soon

Iran's Defense Minister says the country's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps will hold military drill soon.

Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi was quoted as saying that "Iran is the most important power in the region, playing a significant role in protecting the security of the area."

Iran wrapped up its 10-day naval drill in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman on Tuesday. Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari described it as " successful."

Speaking after the drill, Vahidi said the country has been successful in its pursuit of maintaining the security of the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil route.
