Chinese celebrate festival in Russia

01-26-2012 09:11 BJT Special Report:2012 Spring Festival |

Many Chinese overseas are not always able to reunite with family during the Spring Festival or celebrate Chinese New Year together. But this has not stopped them getting into the holiday spirit, as those away from home have created their own traditions and events

At this year’s Spring Festival gala in St. Petersburg, it’s not just Chinese who are performing. These Russian children, who are learning Mandarin, are also treading the boards.

Overseas Chinese said: “Hello, everyone, we are all students from Chinese school.” “We all like China.” ”I like singing Chinese songs very much.” “We are inviting you to come to Russia.”

The amateur show kept the audience, made up of Russians and Chinese, entertained for over three hours. Many got into the spirit of Spring Festival, offering good fortune to family and friends.

“Wish all of you happy new year, good health and all the best.”

“Wish my father and mother good health and all the best. Wish all fathers and mothers happy.“

This is the seventh Spring Festival gala held in St. Petersburg. Here’s to next year!
