Demonstrators take to street at funerals in Damascus

In Syria where security forces fired on a large protest against President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus on Saturday. The shooting took place at the funerals of three youths killed on Friday in an anti-Assad demonstration that was one of the biggest in the capital since nationwide protests began.

Witnesses said up to 30-thousand demonstrators had taken to the streets in the capital’s Mezze district near the headquarters of the Air Force Intelligence and the ruling Baath Party.

The opposition Syrian Revolution Coordination Union said the gunfire near the cemetery had killed one mourner and wounded four.
