Thursday’s meeting will be the first between Washington and Pyongyang since the death of DPRK leader Kim Jong-Il back in December. The meeting aims to restart the six-party talks regarding the DPRK’s nuclear program.

The talks, which involve the DPRK, South Korea, the United States, China, Japan and Russia, were launched in 2003, but have been stalled since December 2008. The DPRK quit the talks in April 2009.
