Syrian army tanks have entered the northern town of Sarmin, near Idlib city. A trail of destruction can be seen across the city- which is littered with damaged buildings and destroyed shops.

Residents say that fighting erupted between the Free Syrian Army and government forces in Sarmin after Syrian Army tanks stormed the city on Monday. At least 14 civilians were killed during Monday’s clashes.

The United Nations said the death toll in the 11-month unrest was well over 7,500, and activists reported more than 250 dead in the past two days alone, mostly in Homs and Hama provinces.
