Chinese FM meets Indian counterpart on strengthening bilateral relations

Foreign minister Yang Jiechi has met his Indian counterpart ahead of a summit of leaders from five emerging economies. Yang is on a two-day official visit to India.

Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, known as the BRICS, are pushing for a bigger voice in global financial affairs. Indian Foreign Affairs Minister, S.M. Krishna, says India’s relations with China were positive but needed to be strengthened and broadened.

The BRICS summit is to be held in New Delhi on March 29th. Global governance, climate change and sustainable development are expected to be on the agenda.
