South Korean and U.S. forces have wrapped up their annual joint command post exercise.

The 12-day exercise, dubbed "Key Resolve", brought together 200,000 South Korean troops and 2,100 US troops for drills based on various scenarios based on assumed threats to South Korea. The drill’s military commanders say the exercise was aimed at preparing for a US transfer of full command of forces to South Korea, as well as improving the South’s defensive capabilities.

The DPRK slammed the drills, calling it preparation for a northward invasion by the allies. South Korea and the US are also engaged in the separate field training exercise. "Foal Eagle", which was launched on March 1 and continues until April 30.
