China urges Syrian gov't, related parties to fulfil ceasefire promise

China is calling on all parties in Syria to abide by the UN-brokered ceasefire agreement. The call came at a routine press briefing by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, in response to the Syrian government’s latest statement on the ceasefire.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Liu Weimin said, "China urges the Syrian government, opposition groups, and all parties involved, to seize the moment, and honor the promise of a ceasefire and withdrawal of troops. We call on all parties to put into practice the work of special envoy Kofi Annan to ease the tense situation and provide conditions for humanitarian aid."
