Senior members of the DPRK's ruling Workers' Party are gathering in the capital Pyongyang ahead of a landmark meeting on Wednesday.

The country’s official KCNA news agency says the Fourth Conference of the Workers’ Party of Korea will involve representatives from across the country. Many officials made their first joint appearance at Pyongyang’s main railway station on Monday.

There’s been no official announcement of the agenda for this week’s conference, which is only the fourth such meeting in over six decades. During the last conference in 2010, late leader Kim Jong Il was re-elected as the party’s general secretary, and Kim Jong Un appointed vice chairman of the Party’s Central Military Commission.
