Moment of silence marks 100 anniv. of Titanic

A moment of silence has been held in the North Atlantic on Saturday to honor the victims of the sinking of the Titanic 100 years ago.

At the event on the ship the Azamara Journey, which took place in an auditorium, the captain announced the start of a two minute silence. Later, the names of those who died were also read and projected on a screen in the front of the room.

One hundrend years ago, the Titanic, dubbed unsinkable, was on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England bound for New York when it struck an iceberg and sank. Of more than 2200 passengers and crew aboard the ship 1,500 died.
