Strengthened media coop. to promote Sino-Arab trade & economic relations

The third China-Arab Press Cooperation Forum has concluded in Guangzhou, South China to promote Sino-Arab trade and economic relations.

The 2-day forum was opened on Tuesday, under the theme of "strengthening media cooperation to promote bilateral trade and economic relations". Around 100 experts, scholars and government officials took part.

Ali Dabbagh, Iraqi gov't Head Spokesman, said, "The Sino-Arab relationship runs deep in history. Trade and commerce ties are important, but there is still broad space for the media of both countries to better understand each other."

Trade and economic cooperation is the oldest and most active tie in Sino-Arab relations. Arabic countries have become China's seventh-largest trade partner. During the forum, both sides acknowledged that the media should do more.

Han Song, Vice President of Xinhua News Agency External Exchange Dept., said, "We should inform the people the importance of the economic exchanges. In this aspect the media can do more."

To reinforce the media cooperation is what have been acknowledged from both sides, but besides economy and commerce, there are still other things to be developed by media cooperation, such as the better understanding between the peoples.
