Car bomb attacks kill 13, injures 130 in Dagestan, Russia

Bombs hidden in two vehicles have exploded outside a police station in the Russian republic of Dagestan, in the north Caucasus region. At least 13 people were killed. A local Emergency Ministry official says over 130 people were hospitalised following the blasts in capital Makhachkala, 16 are in critical condition.

The first explosion occurred when a car pulled up beside a traffic police station for an ID check. A second explosion from a car nearby rocked the scene 25 minutes later, as it was filled up with security forces and fire fighters. Local authorities said the blasts were likely to be a suicide attack by Islamic insurgents.
