U.S. President Barack Obama has kicked off his first official campaign events for his reelection bid at campus rallies in the state of Ohio and Virginia.

There he said he would try to win in the "old-fashioned way," seeking voters’ support "door by door" and "block by block." Obama used his first political rally to attack Republican Mitt Romney for learning the "wrong lessons" as a CEO. He also promised to move the U.S. economy forward if he wins a second term.

The president, who was propelled to power in 2008 partly by huge rallies across the country, hoped to regain that momentum with events in large arenas in Columbus, Ohio and later in Richmond,Virginia. Both could be pivotal states in the Nov. 6 election.
