Torrential rains in South China will not be letting up until Tuesday. The Central Meteorological Station continued its rainstorm alert this morning.

9 provinces in South China have been suffering from torrential rains for 4 days. Rainfalls in some areas of Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi provinces and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have reached 200 to 300 mm.

Reports from the Hunan's Civil Affairs bureau say the storms have affected more than 3 million people. In Jiangxi province, more than 20,000 people had to be evacuated. In Guangxi, traffic in the capital city of Nanning was seriously affected.

The rain there also triggered floods in some areas. The local government has taken emergency measures to minimize the impact of the storms.
