"Most Beautiful Teacher" Zhang Lili moves China

A middle school teacher in Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province has recently been deemed the Most Beautiful Teacher in China. A couple of days ago, she saved her students from a bus accident, but lost her own legs.

A moment of life and death – As an out of control bus bore down on her students, Zhang Lili, pushed the students out of harm’s way, but only to find her own legs under the wheels.

In northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, a female teacher in the city

escape from the tragedy herself.

The 29 year old teacher lost her legs. Nearly one week has past, but her life is still in danger.

Jin Yanping, vice principal of No. 19 Middle School, Jiamusi City, said, "She is a backbone teacher in our school. She’s also the most popular teacher among the students. For the students, she is a sister. They call her Beautiful Sister."

But Zhang Lili is more than a teacher and sister to the 53 students in her class. She cares about their studies and even their lives.

A student’s parent said, "She is very warm-hearted. My son has lost his father. Every month, the teacher gives him 100 yuan to buy books, with her own salary."

But now, for her family, anxiously waiting outside the ICU room, they just want her to live.

Li Ziye, Zhang Lili’s husband said, “All I want is for her to live, then we can conquer any difficulties, as long as our family is complete."

Her heroic action drew wide attention from the country. She’s been deemed as the Most beautiful Teacher by netizens. China’s Ministry of Health has called for the use of the country’s entire medical resources to save her.
