Senior CPC leader meets Cambodian king

He Guoqiang, a senior leader of China's Communist Party has met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni.The meeting followed his arrival in Phnom Penh on Tuesday for an official goodwill visit.

He Guoqiang conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Chinese President Hu Jintao.He said that improving relations over the past half century have generated substantial profits for the two peoples and contributed to maintaining regional stability and development.

He Guoqiang says China places great importance on strengthening the traditional Sino-Cambodian friendship, and that both sides are ready to implement the consensus reached by visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao and Cambodian King Sihamoni in March this year.

He added that the two countries should maintain high level mutual visits, deepen economic and trade cooperation, expand people to people exchanges, and step up communication and coordination on major international and regional affairs.

Sihamoni says He Guoqiang's visit will inject new vigour and vitality into the friendly relations between the two countries and that Cambodia is ready to work with China to push forward the development of the bilateral relations based on past achievements.Cambodia is the second leg of He Guoqing's four-nation tour.

It has already brought him to Laos. Following his Cambodia's visit, He Guoqing will visit Malaysia and Russia.
