Tropical Storm Talim is likely to be the year’s first major storm to hit Taiwan. This according to the Taiwan Weather Bureau.

The bureau said it may issue a sea warning from Talim by Monday night or Tuesday morning. The tropical storm in combination with a southwest air current could bring heavy rain to Taiwan from Tuesday to Friday.

Central and southern Taiwan is likely to see between 1,200 and 1,500 millimeters of rainfall over that period. The downpour is expected to bring an elevated risk of mudslides. As of 2 pm Monday, Talim was centered 900 kilometers off Eluanbi on the southern tip of Taiwan.
