South Korea and the US have carried out a series of military manoeuvres at the memorial day of the 62nd anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War. The act further strains the tensions on the peninsula. The DPRK, Democratic People's Republic of Korea Monday strongly condemns the drills.

A spokesman of DPRK's Foreign Ministry is calling the use of its national flag Friday in U.S.-South Korean military drills a "grave provocative act" and an insult. He said the act shows the US lies about its saying of no hostility to DPRK, and its promise of this on February 29th. He also said DPRK is no longer threatened by US' nuclear power, saying the country has the ability to contain the threat.

According to him, Pyongyang will continue boosting its defensive nuclear program, if the US' hostility toward DPRK exists. The United States, South Korea and Japan on Thursday started the two-day military exercises, the first of their kind, near waters south of the Korean Peninsula. On Friday, South Korea and the United States staged their largest-ever live-fire drill north-east of Seoul, aimed at checking solid military preparedness and war-fighting capabilities. A national flag of DPRK is used during the manoeuvre.
