Staying in Egypt, normal traffic has returned to Cairo’s Tahrir Square after celebrations prompted by Mohamed Morsi’s election victory ended.

Protesters who had been staging a sit-in against the military junta’s constitutional changes, removed road blocks that had prevented traffic from entering the square. Thousands had gathered following the changes on June 19th that embedded the military’s supra-constitutional powers and weakened the position of the new president.

Excitement, however, prevailed on Monday, with supporters celebrating the country’s first civilian president.

Morsi supporter said, "I am here to say that Dr. Morsi is a president to all Egyptians not for a certain political faction or a group in specific. Morsi you are now carrying the responsibility of the people - judges, drivers, ministers and everyone. God shall be with you to be up to this responsibility. We are standing beside you to support you".

Mohamed Ismail, Morsi supporter, said, "We are really happy. The Egyptian people since 60 years didn’t see the happiness. We are now having a role in the political life. As youth we lived 42 years in an oppressive system. They didn’t steal our money only they stole our lives".

Amar Abdel Aziz, protester, said, "The military council is controlling everything and Morsi is only a picture he doesn’t have any authorities now. Why is the council doing so? We come everyday and we sleep on the streets. Why should we have another parliament elections after all the money spent".
