Mohammed Morsi has taken his oath of office before Egypt's Supreme Constitutional Court. He is now Egypt's President. Earlier the Islamist leader addressed ecstatic crowds in Tahrir Square, and warned off generals trying to curb his powers. Morsi's swearing in makes him the Arab world’s first freely elected Islamist leader.

And Egypt’s fifth president since the overthrow of the monarchy some 60 years ago. Supporters rallied in Tahrir Square for the official inauguration of their new president.
