Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has held talks in Paris with French President Francois Hollande about the stalled Middle East peace process. He said they also spoke about the new investigation into Yasser Arafat's death.

Abbas says, "We indeed spoke about the financial crisis of the Palestinian National Authority. We also talked about the expansion and the extension of the colonisation by Israel.

We talked about the continuous aggression of colonisers against Palestinian citizens, their goods, their churches, their mosques. We also talked about the issue of inter-Palestinian reconciliation.

We also talked about the death of President Yasser Arafat, who, I remind you, was treated here, was treated in France. This issue is apparently being raised again and we will launch an investigation if needed. We want to see if other facts emerge."
