In the coal mine accident in Leiyang city in central China’s Hunan province, two miners bodies have been found, hours after 4 miners were rescued alive, and 4 more earlier in the day.

Life detection efforts are continuing to search for and rescue the remaining six trapped. The most recently rescued miners, who had been trapped for more than 90 hours, are in stable condition. Medical inspection and nutrition supplements are being offered.

The flood in the coal mine occurred on Wednesday when 40 miners were working underground, and two dozen escaped. 16 miners were trapped in the pit. Managers of the mine failed to report the accident in the required time, delaying rescue efforts for at least 12 hours. The mine owner is in police custody. Rescue efforts were also halted due to unexpected neck-high level water in the passage to trapped miners.
