Amateur video has captured images of clashes between Turkish security forces and Syrian refugees in Turkey’s southern province of Kilis on Sunday.

The commotion broke out in a refugee camp when refugees started throwing stones at buildings and tried to leave the camp in protest of insufficient food and water. More than 43-thousand Syrians have taken refuge in nine camps along Turkey’s border with Syria.

Sunday was the first time official media reported violence among the refugees that required security forces to intervene. On Tuesday, one of Turkey’s deputy prime ministers said his government has decided to open new camps in the southern provinces for the possible arrival of more Syrian refugees.
