Water levels in the Yangtze River are receding, after days of flooding. On Tuesday morning, Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, upstream of the Yangtze River, saw its largest flood crest in 3 decades.

The flood peak then passed through the Jiangjin District of Chongqing. More than 40,000 residents had to be evacuated and relocated over a two day period. The waters reached the Three Gorges Dam in Yichang City of Hubei Province on Wednesday morning. It's the biggest flood peak the dam has seen in nine years.
