China has won its fifth gold of day eight in the women’s team epee. The Chinese team triumphed with a score of 39 to 25 after the nine matches against South Korea.

China fought off early jitters and caution to grind down their opponents. South Korea, having upset reigning world champions Romania in the first round, started confidently and jumped to an early lead. But a flurry of touches by world number one Sun Yujie, allowed third-seeded China to claw their way back and eventually win the gold. The US finished third after beating Russia.
