The 1st Annual World Congress of the Ocean has been held in the port city of Dalian, in northeast China. The gathering has brought together world leaders, NGOs, researchers and businesses from around the world. The purpose of the conference is to raise awareness of the role that oceans play in our lives.

Given China’s large coastline, the conference is providing a vital platform to bring together Chinese and foreign delegates, who are looking to exchange ideas and to search for new opportunities in the world’s oceans. The event is being held on a large cruise to emphasize the importance of the sea.
