China, ASEAN promote cooperation

The first China-ASEAN science and technology ministers’ meeting is also being held in Nanning.

China’s Science and Technology Minister, Wan Gang and rotating president of the ASEAN Science and Technology Committee, Ruan Jun, co-chaired the meeting.

Senior officials from the ministries of science and technology from all sides attended the meeting, to explore possibilities for joint work. So far, China has signed inter-governmental cooperation agreements with eight ASEAN countries, and has finished more than 1,000 cooperation programs.

Cooperation in science and technology with ASEAN countries has become one of the most important goals of the China-ASEAN strategic partnership.
