Heavy sandstorm hits NW China

A heavy sandstorm has hit Jinchang City in northwest China's Gansu Province.

The sandstorm began to roll over Jinchang city early Friday. Within just 20 minutes, the whole area had been blanketed.

Visibility on roads has been severely reduced, forcing traffic to move slowly and drivers to use their fog lights.

The local meteorological department says there are moderate gales, with wind speeds exceeding force 7.
