Premier Wen attends 9th ASEM Summit

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has arrived in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, to attend the 9th Asia-Europe Summit. Premier Wen was welcomed at the airport by the Prime Minister of Laos, Thongsing Thammavong, and Chinese ambassador to Laos, Bu Jianguo. In a statement conveying the good wishes of the Chinese people, he said China congratulated Laos on the remarkable results of the country’s reform and opening up process.

The Premier praised the achievements made in securing stability and economic development, and the positive progress of its seventh Five-Year Plan. The Premier spoke of the long-standing friendship between China and Laos, noting that bilateral relations have developed in a spirit of mutual political trust and sound economic cooperation. The premier says China looks forward to enhancing strategic cooperation with Laos in the future.
