The Japanese government is set to approve a new emergency stimulus package of 880 billion yen, or 10.7 billion US dollars, to boost its economy. This is the second package in two months.
Officials say the government will finance the package with remaining money under this year’s budget instead of issuing new debts. Observers say this move is likely to trigger criticism from opposition parties, as it is unusual for a government to launch economic measures after dissolving the House of Representatives for a general election.
