The remains of the late leader Yasser Arafat have been reburied, just hours after samples were taken to be tested for signs he was poisoned.

Palestinian officials say the operation has finished, the tomb has been resealed and the samples have been given to expert teams from Switzerland, France and Russia. They will examine the samples separately in their countries.

Arafat died in 2004, but the underlying causes of death remain a mystery. France began a murder inquiry in August after Swiss experts found radioactive polonium-210 on his personal belongings. Arafat’s medical records say he had a stroke resulting from a blood disorder.
