Mali forces retake Central town

Mali’s armed forces, supported by the French military, have retaken the central town of Konna. The news comes as representatives from Mali’s military spoke at a news conference, saying they are ready for any help in their fight against Islamist rebels who control much of the north of the country.

Col. Abderamane Baby, Operations Advisor, Mali Defense Ministry, said, "Under the assistance framework set out in the UN Resolution 2085, what is asked of all countries who want to help Mali is for each to see what they can concretely bring about, and see how that can be integrated into the operation."
