83 buried in landslide in Tibetan mining area

At least 83 workers are reported to have been buried in a landslide that hit a mining area in the Tibet Autonomous Region on Friday.

The landslide occured in Mai’zho’kunggar County of Lhasa, Tibet’s regional capital. The buried were workers from a subsidiary of China National Gold Group Corporation.

President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang have both issued directions for all out efforts to save the rescued workers. Large scale equipment, sniffer dogs and radar is being used on site for resuce work.
