Technology developed to help astronauts live in space

06-13-2013 15:23 BJT Special Report: China Dream of Space Exploration |

Shenzhou-10 spacecraft will stay in space for 15 days. Living in a weightless environment, astronauts may find it difficult to adapt to the conditions. But today technology has been developed to help.

Food used to be contained in tooth-paste like containers. Now astronauts can enjoy real chocolate beans, sandwich, biscuits and instant noodles.

Astronauts now have sleeping bags which are fixed in the inner wall of the spaceship. They can largely reduce one's anxiety when sleeping in the weightless environment.

Astronauts are also able to have their feet fixed to the floor when having a shower. And in order to not get choked by the floating waterdrops, a special pump has been developed to take water and air away. It takes 15 minutes to take a shower, but will take 45 minutes to clean the bathing facilities.
