A pre-dawn bus crash in central Thailand has killed 19 people and injured more than 20 others. An 18-wheeler truck hit the double-decker bus which then caught fire. The Bangkok bound bus was carrying some 45 passengers from Roi-Et Province, in the northeast of the country.

The crash happened in the province of Saraburi, 90 kilometers from Bangkok. Police say the truck drove through a barrier in the center of the road and swerved into the path of oncoming traffic on the other side.

The dead included the bus driver and a three-year-old infant. The injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals. The driver of the truck was slightly injured and is being questioned by police. Authorities say the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
