12-14-2013 20:53 BJT Special Report: Chang’e-3 Lunar Probe |

Joining us in the studio are Mr. Yang Yuguang from the China Aerospace and Science and Industry Corporation..and Mr. Xu Yansong from the Asia Pacific Space cooperation Organization. Thank you for joining us.

Q1. The Chang’e 3 lunar lander is carrying some of China’s most advanced space hardware. What sorts of innovations have led to where China’s lunar program is today?

Q2. Why is the Chang’e 3 mission relying on automatic and computer programs, instead of being manually controlled from Earth? What are the benefits of relying on automated technology?

Q3. Earlier many reports said there was a 12 minute window before landing, when the command center back on earth wouldn’t be able to do anything. Is that true? Can flight controllers back on earth intervene if something goes wrong during the landing process?
