Chang'e-3 lunar lander, rover complete last photo session

The rover and lander have taken photos of each other for the fifth and final time. And the next step is scientific survey and exploration.

Clear, complete images of the Chang’e-3 lander have been sent back to Earth. The Yutu rover carries a Panoramic Camera for real-time video transmission. The camera provides stereo images in high-resolution, and three-dimensional imaging.

The Chang’e-3 lander is equipped with several cameras, including a Descent Camera and an Extreme Ultraviolet Imager. For the next three months, Yutu will survey the moon’s geological structure and surface substances, and look for natural resources. The lander will conduct explorations at the landing site for a year.

The Chang’e 3 probe blasted off from southwest China on December 2nd. The mission is to search for natural resources that can be used on Earth, and to test China’s remote-control technology of the rover from Earth.
