China has successfully finished its first test involving an advanced diving technique that allows divers to work at great depths for long periods of time.
Three divers returned safe and sound to the deck Sunday morning, Sunday after an operation 300 meters underwater, near China’s southern city of Shenzhen. They went as deep as 313.5 meters, a big leap from the 198 meters reached in June last year. The diving chamber carrying a second batch of three divers also went underwater again. Saturation diving could help divers complete tasks that machines can not. It could be widely used in rescue operations and deep-sea exploration.
